CONGRATULATIONS ANDREW MUZZARELLI!!  In past newsletters, you have read that Andrew was an alternate for the Senior Elite Team Double-Mini Trampoline World Championship competition being held in Quebec City, Canada. He was able to compete with the senior elite team and, with three other men on the team representing the USA, received the Team Silver Medal.  Standings are as follows: 1st place Russia, 2nd place USA, 3rd place, Great Britain, 4th place, Australia and 5th place Spain.  Individually, Andrew placed 20th in the world. United States Double-Mini earned a spot in the world games in Taiwan in 2009.   

 

 

 

Aaron Luangkham, Mighty Kid II wins TWO trophies in the North American_____

                       Tae Kwon Do/Karate Kung Fu National Championship_________________

 

Aaron Luangkham, 7 years old Mighty Kid II, won two trophies in the North American Tae Kwon Do/Karate/Kung Fu Open National Championship held on Sunday, October 7 in Beloit, Wisconsin.

 

Aaron won a fourth place trophy in Forms Competition.  Form represents defense against multiple attackers, using blocks, strikes and kicks in motion.

 

He then won a second place trophy in Sparring Competition.  Sparring represents

defense against another opponent with protective gear, using blocks, strikes and kicks to score points.

 

Master Michael Reynolds, Aaron's instructor at the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford, stated, "Aaron is very sharp in everything he does, he's very focused.  I knew he would do well in his first competition.  I am very proud of him!"

 

This is Aaron's third session in the Mighty Kids Program at the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford and he is just about to test for blue stripe.  Aaron is the son of Pat Thanadabouth and Settha Luangkham. He is in second grade at Froberg School.  Aaron's mother said, "We are very happy that he is in Tae Kwon Do.  He wants to compete and we are very proud of him."

Gymnastic Academy Of Rockford Held An All-Staff Intensive Staff Training Session,

August 17, 18 & 19, 2007

 

The Gymnastic Academy of Rockford, as part of their ongoing coaching education program, conducted a weekend intensive training session on August 17-19, 2007. During this three day session, GAR's staff participated in interactive discussion in topics including: various learning styles, teaching techniques that compliment learning styles, tools and techniques to meet various children's needs, strategies for success, techniques to interact with parents to become advocates through communication, avoiding and overcoming fears, behavior management, creating ideas positive and optimistic mind sets in athletes, motivation and characteristics of the excellent teachers and many other topics. 

 

GAR's three day session was presented by Ken "Doc" Miller and his wife, Bertina C Hsu-Miller.  "Doc" Millers list of accomplishments are wide and varied and highly respected in the world of gymnastics.  He currently is President of Sports Education and Consulting at the Montgomery County, PA Community College Physical Education facility and co-author of "Principles Of Dynamic Coaching".  Mrs. Miller is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Education Psychology at Temple University and is involved in Sports Education and Counseling.  She is also an individual staff development consultant for gymnastic programs in multiple states and Portugal.  Mrs. Miller is also a co-presenter for yearly staff development seminars for the USA Gymnastic Mid Atlantic Congress.
