SALLY COOPER, LEVEL 9 GYMNAST TAKES TOP HONORS AT THE LEVEL 9 EASTERN NATIONALS, KETTERING, OHIO

 

Sally Cooper, 13 year old gymnast trained by Lori Aamodt at the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford, placed third on bars and 5th on floor at the East/West National championships in Dayton, Ohio this past weekend. Cooper’s 7th place finish at regional placed her on the Regional team for the event. She along with five other girls from Ohio, Illinois and Michigan had a team all-around score of 148.850 and were the National Team Champions in the Junior B Division. The competition included athletes from 25 states and four regions from around the country.  Along with taking first place with the team, Sally also scored 8.95 on vault, 9.45 on bars, 9.0 on beam, 9.35 on floor and placed 9th in the all around with a 36.75.

 

Sally trains 29 hours a week at the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford and her ultimate goal is to be in the 2012 Olympics. 

 

 

 

CONGRATULATIONS ANDREW MUZZARELLI!!  In the past, you have read that Andrew was an alternate for the Senior Elite Team Double-Mini Trampoline World Championship competition being held in Quebec City, Canada. He was able to compete with the senior elite team and, with three other men on the team representing the USA, received the Team Silver Medal.  Standings are as follows: 1st place Russia, 2nd place USA, 3rd place, Great Britain, 4th place, Australia and 5th place Spain.  Individually, Andrew placed 20th in the world. United States Double-Mini earned a spot in the world games in Taiwan in 2009.

 

 

Aaron Luangkham, Mighty Kid II wins TWO trophies in the North American

                    Tae Kwon Do/Karate Kung Fu National Championship

 

Aaron Luangkham, 7 years old Mighty Kid II, won two trophies in the North American Tae Kwon Do/Karate/Kung Fu Open National Championship held on Sunday, October 7 in Beloit, Wisconsin.

 

Aaron won a fourth place trophy in Forms Competition.  Form represents defense against multiple attackers, using blocks, strikes and kicks in motion.

 

He then won a second place trophy in Sparring Competition.  Sparring represents

defense against another opponent with protective gear, using blocks, strikes and kicks to score points.

 

Master Michael Reynolds, Aaron's instructor at the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford, stated, "Aaron is very sharp in everything he does, he's very focused.  I knew he would do well in his first competition.  I am very proud of him!"

 

This is Aaron's third session in the Mighty Kids Program at the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford and he is just about to test for blue stripe.  Aaron is the son of Pat Thanadabouth and Settha Luangkham. He is in second grade at Froberg School.  Aaron's mother said, "We are very happy that he is in Tae Kwon Do.  He wants to compete and we are very proud of him."
