The Dance Source provides high quality dance education in a friendly and caring atmosphere. Classes are offered year round for age's preschool to adults. The well educated and well respected staff provides professional and technical expertise with a kinesthetic approach to learning and training the students. They encourage all students to achieve their best.

We offer classes for all levels of experience. Beginner to advanced students are encouraged to explore different dance forms. The serious student should take several classes a week to intensify training. Students may join a class at any point during the Session.

Dance for Enjoyment
Offered for men and women who have always wanted to dance but were afraid to try. Modern dance techniques and the concepts of creative movement allow students to increase mobility, strength, and flexibility as well as develop artistic expression.

Tap Dance (Tap dance shoes required)
  • Beginning-Ages 5-7 years
  • Intermediate - Ages 7-10 years
  • Advanced- Ages 10 & up

Derived form the blending of the syncopated rhythms of African dance with the step and clog dances from Scotland and Ireland. Emphasis is on foot work, rhythm, and style, knowledge of steps and vocabulary.

Hip Hop
This is an urban dance style performed to hip hop music that combines movements from African, jazz and street dance. Emphasis is on isolations, rhythm and style.

Modern Dance
  • Beginning-Ages 8 & up
  • Intermediate - Ages 9-11
  • Advanced- Ages 12 & up

Challenges the entire body and allows for creative and artistic expressions through movements experience. Emphasis is on alignment, efficiency of movement, spatial and rhythmic awareness, and quality of movement on expressiveness.

Creative Movement

  • Ages 3-9

For boys and girls who love to move, stretch and be creative. The classes will incorporate the basic creative dance concepts of body, time, space and energy. We will also explore movement possibilities with music, rhythm, stories and pictures.

Ballet

  • Beginning- Ages 5-7
  • Advanced/Beginning- Ages 8 & up
  • Intermediate- Ages 9 & up
  • Advanced 1- Ages 10 & up
  • Advanced 2- w/pre-pointe
  • Advanced 3- w/pointe

The foundation for all other dance techniques. Ballet technique utilizes and challenges the entire body. Emphasis is on proper alignment and placement, turnout, development of ballet skills, as well as knowledge of steps and vocabulary. Pointe technique will be incorporated into the advanced level ballet classes.

Jazz

  • Beginning-Ages 8 & up
  • Intermediate - Ages 9-11
  • Advanced- Ages 12 & up

Emerged from the jazz music of the early 20th century. Jazz dance reflects the diversity of American culture with the influences coming form theater, social dance and classical ballet. Emphasis is on alignment, isolations, technique, spatial and rhythmic awareness, knowledge of steps, vocabulary and style.

Yoga
A powerful solution to the stress of modern life. This class involves a series of asanas (poses) that work to tone muscles, and improve overall health. Emphasis is on practice of poses, breath control, concentration and relaxation.

Pilates
This body conditioning method was developed by Joseph Pilates, a German boxer in the 1920's and brought to America in the 1030's. This system results in longer, leaner appearing muscles, better alignment and core strength.

Social Dance for Teens

Learn the basics of Swing, the Fox Trot, and Tango. Have fun learning line dances like the Hustle, Electric Slide and Boot Scootin' Boogie.

Ballroom Dance for Adults

  • Please register with a partner
Learn the Fox Trot, Waltz, Tango, and others. Emphasis will be on knowledge of steps, posture, vocabulary and fun.
